I was born and grew up in Luckhoff, a very small town in the South-Western Free State. I matriculated from Werda High School, in our neighbouring town, Fauresmith. I furthered my studies at the UOFS and afterwards worked as an Occupational Therapist. I married Henry, a farmer from Senekal and we are blessed with three lovely children: André, Corlien and Adriaan. I was privileged to be one of their teachers in Deo Gloria Christian School, giving me the opportunity to spend maximum time with them and also to get involved in giving art to different grades.
Throughout my life I seized every opportunity to be creative, being true to the spiritual meaning of my name … ‘Creative Spirit’. Recently I find myself more attracted to painting and writing. I feel happy and thankful that I can do this out of a truly fulfilled heart.
I love the bright colours of acrylics, which I use mostly. However, sometimes I will also use pastels or a combination of the two. Since I care deeply for His creation, I often use recycled materials and change it artistically to be used in a decorative way.
I still teach art to children and adults and always try to make it a happy and enjoyable experience. I like to give people the freedom to express themselves and develop their own style by using different techniques and mediums.
I am grateful to show and sell my work to you. I pray that it may add happiness to your heart and home.
